Ray Chang

Dr. Raymond (Ray) Chang was born in Seoul, Korea, and moved to the United States at a young age. Growing up in a bilingual and bicultural family in Southern California, he developed a unique perspective that later fueled his vision for multiethnic churches in the United States.

Dr. Chang’s academic journey began at Biola University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies. He then pursued graduate studies at Talbot School of Theology and Dallas Theological Seminary, completing a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Sacred Theology. He more recently earned his Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

With extensive experience in both Asian-American and multiethnic ministries, Dr. Chang began his career as a youth pastor in Southern California. He later completed an internship at First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton, where he was ordained under the leadership of Pastor Chuck Swindoll. From 1993 to 1996, he served as the English Ministry Pastor at Korean Central Presbyterian Church.

Following this, Dr. Chang planted his first church, Ambassador Bible Church, in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. In 2000, he returned to Southern California to serve as the Outreach Pastor at First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton. In 2003, he planted his second church, Ambassador Church, with locations in Anaheim and Brea.

Currently, Dr. Chang leads Ambassador Network, a multiethnic ministry focused on church planting and leadership development in multiethnic contexts. As part of this work, he assisted the Mosaix Institute at Wheaton College to consult churches on multiethnic ministries and support mission work across the U.S. He also serves on several multiethnic boards, including Mosaix, Stadia, and Gracism.

In his current role, Dr. Chang is the Corporate Manager of Faith-Based Engagement and Partnerships at Thrivent Financial, a large financial services organization serving pastors and organizations with generosity and stewardship.
