Matt Metzger

Originally a beach kid from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Matt now serves as the Senior Pastor of Blackhawk Church, a multisite congregation in Madison, Wisconsin. He joined the staff in the fall of 2000 as the College and Young Adult Pastor, later becoming the Site Pastor for Blackhawk Downtown in 2010. On March 8, 2020—just three days before the COVID-19 shutdowns—he was voted into the role of Senior Pastor. So yes, it’s been a bit of a journey.

Matt is a graduate of Wheaton College, where he met his wife, Rachel. They have two grown daughters who were both recently married. In addition to his role at Blackhawk, Matt also serves as a chaplain for several athletic teams at the University of Wisconsin.
